An analytical look at elements Zeta Gundam and 0079

Having just completed Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, I felt a desire to share my thoughts on the series, including how it compares with the first Mobile Suit Gundam which I finished about a month ago. I’d like to note that I’m making no attempt at being objective in this and that it’s purely based upon my feelings in regards to the series, and what was done right and wrong by the two series. My plans for Winter 2016

Like many anime fans, I tend to start with a fairly large number of shows at the start of each season before dropping many of them by the second or third episode. I also tend to group the shows I plan to watch into two categories: shows I’m sure that I’ll watch,  and shows which I’ll give a few episodes to prove themselves to me. Looking at Pacing in Utawarerumono

This post was made after watching episode 11 of Itsuwari no Kamen and any comments on InK made at this point may change in the future. Some spoilers for both shows will be included.

Pacing is frequently discussed in anime circles, and rightfully so. It plays a vital role in the way a story is shown to the audience. However all too often these circles fall into the trap of associating fast pacing with good pacing and slow pacing with bad pacing. This is likely due to the fact that many slow-paced shows are considered boring by most viewers. I’d like to show that this certainly is not always the case however, and I’d like to do so by looking at the 2006 anime Utawarerumo and its currently airing sequel, Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen a show for which the pacing is frequently criticized.
